On my Facebook feed the other day there was a real estate agent advertising her first time home buyer class. As a real estate broker, I’m not all that interested in attending a first time home buyer class, but I thought I’d tell you what one is so that you don’t have to bother to go.
What Is The Point Of A First Time Home buyer Class?
Well, if a real estate agent can get your name and email address, you win the prize of being marketed to. If the real estate agent running the class can show that the class adds leads to her sales funnel, she will be thought of very highly around the office. For the first time home buyer that might actually walk through the door, they learn very broad information that any real estate agent should be able to tell you.
Will Food Be Served At The First Time Home buyer Class?
I should hope so! If you are going to get me to sit anywhere for an hour, there better be snacks. Bonus points if there are fruit, meat, or cheese trays. I wonder, can we make any inference between the quality of the treats served and the quality of the real estate agent? Stated another way, if the snacks are awesome, does that equal the agent being awesome?
Will I Learn Anything At The First Time Home buyer Class?
You mean, besides the real estate agents choice of snacks and how they relate to their service? I’m sure you will learn something. Maybe what current interest rates are, the name of the real estate agent and their team.
When Will Deerwood Realty Hold A First Time Home buyer Class?
Not any time soon. At Deerwood Realty, we would rather talk to our potential clients one on one, and answer whatever questions they might have in a more comfortable setting. You see, there’s no really no point to sitting down in a class with 4 other people when you are getting one on one service. We expect first time home buyers to have questions, but everyone comes to the home buying process with their own set of circumstances. I just think it’s better to find out exactly what those circumstances are before we customize a home buying plan that works for them.
Rather Than Attending A First Time Home buyer Class, What Should I Do?
Call us. Let’s figure out where you are in the process and what we can do to get you to the ultimate prize, that new home. We’re a little different in that we aren’t really fond of high pressure sales techniques, and we work with our home buyers to understand exactly what they are looking for in the marketplace. If you are on the fence about buying your first home, you probably aren’t really ready. Attending a first time home buyer class isn’t going to turn the magic switch and get you to buy a house. If the snacks are bad, it might keep you from buying a house altogether.
