Nothing gets me more angry than when someone is murdered just doing their job. There’s something about when someone is working, trying to provide for themselves and their family and then they get killed doing so. Really irritates me. This is true no matter the profession…convenience store workers….we had a laclede gas employee here in St. Louis get murdered….Just terrible.

Thoughts

1. The deaths came during a final home inspection after Baglione signed a contract to buy the property sight-unseen — and then didn’t like what he had agreed to purchase….So this had to have been at the walk through….

2. “Everything comes with risk. You are working with people you don’t know. You don’t know their families and their backgrounds.” This is true. And, sometimes even if you do know their families and backgrounds, you wouldn’t expect for something like this to happen. But this is why I do things a little differently. Full disclosure, If I meet someone and I don’t like them…they have an attitude or something is off…I don’t work with them. This is me. I’ve been blessed with the situation where I don’t have to work with everyone who calls me.

3. She went on to say that she usually follows clients into homes — rather than going inside first — just in case. This…I don’t do this. If I am working with someone and they are going to murder me…I don’t think it matters if I follow them or if they follow me. I do get concerned when I open a door and there are people in the house, because usually the sellers leave during showings.

4. But it’s not apparent or clear that any amount of caution might have dissuaded the killer in this instance. And this is right. People are strange. People do strange things, and you just never know what might happen.

5. “He seemed a little off,” a man named Shane, who lives next door to the house in question and who asked to be identified only by his given name, told The Virginian-Pilot. “He just seemed out of it.” And another quote….“He just looked like maybe he had a mental breakdown or something,” a man named Jay told local CBS affiliate WTKR. “He didn’t look right at all. He kept driving up and down the street all day.” So yes, this is strange behavior. Usually, I will tell a buyer to drive the street a few times just to see if the neighborhood stays the same and there isn’t a massive change between night and day…but definitely wouldn’t be driving up and down the street all day.

6. According to the Pilot, Baglione’s son explained that his father previously lived in Alabama and bought the house after finding it in an online listing. The killer paid in cash and never once saw the property until the deal was done.

a. It is strange to buy a house online seeing only the pictures. I would NEVER tell a client that is a good idea. You know, because I’ve said it again and again in my videos.
b. Get all the way to buying a house and not seeing it until the deal is finished? No inspection during the whole process? That’s strange. Super strange.

7. “He said it didn’t look the same as it did in the pictures,” Shane added. “He told his son he was unhappy and that he was going to talk to his agent about it.” House is already bought….and what is this about?

8. 160,000 cash for a house. That seemed like a low number given the market….but I looked it up on Realtor.com and within about 10,000 you can actually buy a house there for that.

9. This agent who was murdered. His mother was an agent, this wasn’t someone who was new. Even an experienced agent is in danger from murders. It wasn’t an experience thing.

10. Is there anything that can be learned from this?

a. Being involved in real estate can be dangerous
b. Just want to raise awareness

Thoughts and prayers to the family of the agent.

It’s just tragic. The murder suicide leaves such a feeling of emptiness. Terrible.

Our word of the day is Loathly

causing hatred or disgust; repulsive

The murder of any person who is on the job is loathly.
