Good day! This livestream was full of useful information for when you are considering buying or selling your home
John started off with a discussion of the weather and how it relates to success in showings. He then moved to discuss the market and what a good listing agent does versus what the average agent does and what you should be looking for when you are making the decision on a real estate agent.
The Google trends article brought us the news of a 5 time world chess champion deciding that he will not defend his world chess championship title. It’s kind of like John saying, “I am so good at listing houses that I will no longer do it anymore” Well, let’s be honest, John would never say such a thing.
Moving on, we went over an article on how to save for a down payment on your home purchase. John says that you should try to pay debt first, and if you are carrying a bunch of debt, it’s not going to be great in terms of getting a mortgage approval at a level you would probably want to be at.
John recommended that you look at home buying as a process with fits and starts. You might not be able to buy at first, but over time you can build up your credit and be pre approved. After that, the longer you wait to purchase a home you can be taking that time to save for a larger down payment and perhaps put you in a better financial position.
Finally, John went over a rather odd article from a study group at Harvard. The stated issue is that home affordability is disproportionally affecting the poor and then the government intervention can only help the situation. John flat out disagrees. It is an article worth reading because you can see where there is a definite difference between those who work in real estate for a living and those who write about real estate from a comfy desk to push a political narrative.
